World Ozone Day

World Ozone day is held on September 16th to mark the day back in 1987 when the Montreal Protocol was signed. As a result, a series of events such as talks and seminars are held in the Canadian city of Montreal on this day.

World Ozone Day has been celebrated since 1994 and was established by the United Nations General Assembly. The day is mainly intended to spread awareness of the depletion of the Ozone Layer and search for solutions to preserve it.

What We Do

Panda was formed through our journey of looking for stylish, designer-quality bed linen that is ecologically and environmentally friendly. We discovered the bamboo viscose fabric in the backwoods of Southeast Asia made from 100% bamboo fibre and immediately fell in love with the luxurious softness and silkiness of the fabric, as well as its sustainability and environmental benefits. We manufacture eco-friendly homeware, such as memory foam bamboo pillows, memory foam mattress toppers, 100% Bamboo bedding and super soft towels.

We believe that every company should be aware of the effects they are having on the environment. At Panda, we are extremely conscious about which materials we use when designing and manufacturing our products. We always consider our role in the world and believe in social change through responsible business practices which respect the planet.

Bamboo is one of the world’s most eco-friendly materials, and here are a few reasons why!

Fast Growing

Bamboo can grow up to 4 feet in the correct conditions in 24 hours. As the plant grows very quickly, we can manufacture our products without disturbing the wild panda’s diet, as 99% of them are bamboo. Bamboo is also extremely easy to maintain, as it does not require pesticides or fertilizers to grow, and it absorbs a very small amount of water compared to other plants for textiles, such as cotton.

Bamboo and Oxygen

Bamboo plants absorb Carbon Dioxide (CO2) and release Oxygen (O2) into the atmosphere, helping to reduce greenhouse gasses. One of the most incredible elements of bamboo is that it absorbs five times the amount of Carbon Dioxide and releases 35% more Oxygen into the atmosphere compared to trees.

All of our packaging is made from 100% recycled kraft paper, a 100% biodegradable natural product. The pulp is made from long virgin fibres of maritime pine, which is not bleached, so there is minimal chemical processing. This method gives the paper a unique colour, retaining the natural wood texture.

Just like tree leaves, kraft paper is naturally biodegradable. Within a few weeks, the paper decomposes naturally, returning to its normal form of cellulose fibres, which can be fully assimilated into its natural environment without impacting the surrounding wildlife.

We take our position in our local community very seriously, that’s why we have partnered with several charities to work with. Learn more about our charitable activities.

Panda products have many lives…

• No plane policy – we import all of our products by sea, keeping our carbon emissions at one-tenth of what they would be by air

• Carbon-neutral couriers complete 95% of UK and mainland Europe deliveries. Our courier companies use renewable energy in their sorting hubs, use electric transport fleets in large cities and are moving towards 100% electric fleets

• Predict/pickup system – our couriers stay in touch with customers to ensure they are at home when they deliver. This cuts down on multiple trips and wasted energy
